Hello, and happy Yuletide! Thanks for checking out my letter, I hope you’ll find it useful. I’ve gone ahead and included some “hey this is why I like the canon and these characters specifically” stuff, as well as some prompts; feel free to just ignore the latter if you think of something else. I also like shippy fic just as much as gen, so basically – I’ll be looking forward to reading what you come up with no matter what it is.

I’m cadmean on AO3/tumblr/just about everything, in case you want to look me up elsewhere.

DNWs:

mundane AUs, unrequested crossovers, pregnancy/mpreg/kidfic, A/B/O, overly graphic descriptions of bodily fluids other than blood.

Likes:

worldbuilding, missing-scene type fic, unreliable narrators, banter, us against the world, found family/family of choice, moral conflicts, loyalty, pragmatic characters, people kicking ass together, unlikely allies, competence, darkfic, horror, cosmic horrors – the more grotesque and inhuman the better, things getting destroyed in totally over-the-top ways, action scenes and battles/fights, trust and trust issues, dysfunctional/codependent relationships, ambiguous or downright unhappy endings.

smut/kinky likes: breathplay, power dynamics/power imbalance, aggressive/rough sex, loyalty kink, abuse of authority, praise kink, dubcon, blood. (And yeah, I do ship all the characters I’ve requested, though for Jin/Malos I’d prefer basically the opposite in feeling of everything I’ve just listed, haha.)

Fandoms

The Half-Made World
Characters: Creedmoor, Marmion

Weird West! Weird gun demons! And the people who make pacts with those demons! I love it. My favorite thing about Creedmoor and Marmion specifically is how you’ve basically got a spirit of chaos bonding with, and demanding obedience from someone who was specifically chosen because they value freedom of choice – the Gun, pun not intended, is shooting themselves in the foot with every Agent they recruit, and they know it, and they’re glad for it. (“All our Agents are unruly, and we love you for it.” Heart eyes on my part, there.) I love how Creedmoor and Marmion bounce off of each other, and how they work so well together, and how even beyond all that, Creedmoor and Marmion’s relationship is way more one of equals than it probably should be – and I like how Creedmoor realizes that over time, too.

Prompts:

--Anything at all that explores the way these two bounce off each other in various situations would be fantastic, as would any kind of adventures where they work together and kick ass. Infiltrating a tiny frontier town occupied by the Line? Having to bluff their way through some steampunk hotel to get to a target? Literally sitting around a fire and snarking at each other while dancing around the fact that they’re way too similar for comfort? I’m down for absolutely anything.

--Horror! Body horror! Possession horror! The spirits of the Gun and the Line are really old, right? And they’re tied to technology while also enabling said technology, in the same way that they’re dependent on and in control of their respective humans. Gun and Line make for great eldritch forces, is what I’m saying, and if you feel like going a bit deeper into the nitty gritty parts of just what a pact between an Agent of the Gun and the spirit in their weapons entail, I’d be totally there for it.

--If you’ve read The Rise of Ransom City, some kind of missing scene type fic would also be super cool – what exactly happened between Marmion and Creedmoor at White Rock? Does Marmion try to get Creedmoor to come back into the fold; how does it even work now that it’s technically housed in Knoll’s rifle?

Lessa
Characters: Ryan, Ares

Ares is a really fun antagonist, in that once you learn about him and his motivations he becomes pretty understandable – except when he then goes and crosses the moral event horizon he does it hard, and it’s great to watch. And he just keeps on doing it! It’s great fun to watch, and I really wish there’d been more scenes with Ares at the height of his power. Mind you, that whole moral event horizon thing goes for Ryan, too, save that at the last moment he tries to back out of the whole thing; but it’s too little, too late, and Ares doesn’t hesitate to tell him so.  And before that he just goes along with it because, well, he’s definitely getting something out of it, so why stop for other people’s sake? They’re both awful in their own way, and later on they’re awful to and for each other, and I love that.

Note: Because I’ve yet to find it in a language I can read I haven’t been able to start on Season 3 yet, so I’d super appreciate it if there were no spoilers for that.

Prompts:

--How did Ares and Ryan first meet, and how did Ares reveal that he could totally help Ryan live longer but, oops, fine print: you’re gonna have to kill a whole lot of people?  It must’ve been pretty compelling, to get someone like Ryan to kill a whole hospital worth of people; similarly, Ares must’ve been pretty interested in Ryan himself, since Ryan is second generation rather than third or fourth. So, basically: how did that deal with the devil go?

--What’s it like, running the Deman island empire – how do they deal with whatever problems arise? Is it all peace and unity, or does the infighting we see later rear its head within the higher ranks of the organization as well? Do Ryan’s prophecies help with any of this, or are they all strictly to do with Lessa/Dark Lessa?

--For this fandom especially I’d be super interested in any type of missing-scene stuff. What happened after Ryan got himself run through by Lucy at the hospital; what about the direct aftermath of that scene near the end of Season 2, where Ares turns all of Ryan’s books into a great big mountain of ash; how was Ares doing after he kicked Lessa off of that cliff at the end of the prelude; how much chaos was there after the big finale of Season 1, with the artificial sun?

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Characters: Jin, Malos

I love, love, love villain teams who actually seem to genuinely care about each other, so you can imagine how happy I was when it turned out that Malos wanted to destroy the world for Jin (and even went and asked the Architect about it!), while Jin, to quote Rex, just wanted to connect with him. Nice. I like that they trust each other and fight together and fight instead of the other one, on occasion; and I like all that especially in light of Jin and Malos having originally been enemies before Amalthus showed up and fucked over everyone (again.) They’re tragic and codependent and want to destroy the world for each other, and I seriously appreciate all of that.

Note: I’ve played through Torna: The Golden Country, so if you want to incorporate anything from that, feel free!

Prompts:

--How did their relationship develop over the years; how did they end up latching onto each other the way they did? What were they up to in the time between Malos finding Jin in that alley, and turning up in Bana’s office in Argentum? What exactly happened during those attempts Torna made on Indol and Amalthus? Basically, adventures while they figure out their respective feelings towards each other would be fantastic and I’m so here for all possible variations of it.

-- Something with a more worldbuilding slant: how does being a damaged Aegis work out for Malos on a day-to-day level? Does he still get all the data Alrest’s Blades send in; can he still access the Zohar/Conduit? Could he ever? And what about Jin; how does being a Flesh Eater affect him aside from his increasingly frequent stints in the ether-healing pod? I really like all the Aegis/Blade lore and wish we’d gotten a more detailed look at it in the game(s).

-- I’m also super down for any and all takes on what Malos whispered to Jin at the end of Chapter 9. That whole scene was very nice, 12/10, would hug again, but what did he say? How did it influence his mindset during the fight in Aion’s hangar? And what did Jin think of it?

And that’s that! Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a fun Yuletide! :D
